Who wants my chocolate

Who wants my chocolate ?

Today I took one of my breaks at the Orang and Siamang enclosure. (I work at the San Diego Zoo) As I often do, I had a Twix with me. I found Janie the Orang in one of the corners of the exhibit. We often share my breaks. She really enjoys watching me eat. Well, she fixates on me when I eat. I'm not sure she enjoys it. You see, she tries to trade me for my Twix. She has succeeded in throwing grass and other items over the glass wall, once landing it within a foot of me. After she's done that, she'll amble back to a spot directly in front of me. The look on her face could not be misunderstood -"I gave you something, now you give me the Twix - Understand ?" She did that today. The spot where started is covered at the top, so she waddled over to an open spot - pretty smart, huh ?

Today was a little different. She was not the only animal after my chocolate ! The other was a little boy of about 6 or so. When Janie and I were over in the corner, he said out loud, presumably to his Mom, "Can I have some chocolate ?" He followed Janie and I over to the second spot, by which point I'd finished the first piece of Twix. This time he pointed directly at my candy and was obviously addressing me when he said "Can I have one piece of chocolate, please ?" His tone of voice was kind of peeved, so I put a "Stop" hand up and clutched my chocolate to my chest !
